So my five tips to capture your clients attention with your Upwork profile and win more jobs are coming right up.(upbeat music)Tip number one use a high-quality professional-looking photo. It is immensely important to have a friendly welcoming and professional high-quality photo of yourself.

When Upwork clients are looking gonna be able to deliver and execute on their project your photo is one of the first things that they're gonna come in contact with when they go to your profile.I know this because I have an Upwork employer account myself and I hire freelancers for my business to help me scale. So when I created the job and I started going through the list of freelancers who placed bids on my job their photo was one of the first things that I looked at.So when you're choosing your profile photo make sure your face is clearly visible and also make sure that its high resolution as well. Both of these things are actually gonna be recommended to you in the tooltip that Upwork provides when your uploading and if you can make it a professional photos definitely do that. You want to portray yourself as a professional. You're gonna be engaging with a client getting them to pay you for your services to deliver for them to complete their project and provide value to their company you definitely want to make sure that you're portraying yourself as a professional right from the start with your profile photo.Upwork also has another tooltip when your uploading that says freelancers with a professional portrait of themselves are hired five times more often than those without one.So with Upwork putting that much emphasis on your profile photo I think its obviousthat having a high quality high resolution professional and friendly photo of yourself for your profile photo plays a huge role in whether youre gonna be shortlistedand win jobs over other freelancers or not.Tip number two capture attention with your title.Another critical first impression whether that be in search results your proposalor when a client visits your profile is your title.

Your goal with your title should beto grab the perspective clients attentioncausing them to take action. What action? The action that makes them realizethat youre someone who can complete their projectand fulfill their job.Be simple but also specific.Make your title describe the type of jobsthat youre looking for.The more specific and precise you can be in your titlethe more likely you are to grab the clients attentionthats looking for that specific skillto have a feel for their projecttheyre gonna be looking for the right freelancer. So if you can be specific in your titleyoure gonna be able to grab their attentionbecause its gonna directly alignwith what theyre looking for from your skill set.For instance on my Upwork employer accountwhen I created a video editor jobI was looking for a video editor for my YouTube videosbefore I hired Alex whos currently editing this video.Hes amazing. Before I hired him I created my projectI started going through the long list of job proposalsI specifically was looking for the title of the freelancerto be something related to video editor. If I found other job proposalsthat didnt have video editor in the titleof the freelancer I found myself skipping those proposals. The more ways that you can find to put yourselfin the perspective of the clientthe more ways that you can findto make yourself more attractive to them. You can come up with really creative waysto organize your title and make it stand out.For instance take a look at mine.My title is simple but also specific. Its easy for clients to read.

They know what my skills areand they know what Im going to offer to themby reading my title so I do need to go aheadand make a specialized profilefor the data engineer part of my job titleto split that off.Now that Upwork is offering these specialized profilesI just need to take the timeput it in to make a specialized profile. So if you have more than one skillyou dont have to split it out like I did in my job titlejust go ahead and make a specialized profile for it.I would definitely recommend doing that nowsince theyre offering that to you.So when it comes down to creating an attractive profileone thats gonna jump out at a clientto make them want to take a closer look at youyour job title is very important. So be creative and unique with your Upwork profile titlebut also stay specific to your skill setbecause when a client is going through job proposalstheyre gonna be looking for specific skillsdirectly related to their jobso they can find the right freelancer who can deliver.Tip number three write a customer-focused overview.Your profile overview is just as important as your titleand your photo as well.Your profile overview should be customer or client-centricmeaning that you should focuson how you can help clients achieve their goalsand make their lives better as well. The more problems or issuesthat you can resolve for clientsthe more jobs that youre gonna getand the more money thats gonna come rolling your way.The client is the most critical element to your successand you need to constantly try to put yourselfin the perspective of the clientand think about what they would want to seein your profile overview when they visit your profile.Be original be creative and focus onstanding out to clients.

Heres an Upwork pro tip for you.Just like in job proposalsthe first one to three sentences of your overviewis what shows up to clientswhen they search for freelancers in search. So let me give you an example of this real quick. Were currently signed into Upwork on my Freelancer accountso what were gonna do is were gonna change the searchfrom jobs to freelancersand were gonna search for SQL Server DBA.So Im gonna type in SQL Server DBA and were gonna search. So now you can see what I just told you.You can see the first two sentences of my profile overviewshowing up in search. So please dont use something likeHi my name is Josh Burns.I have over seven years experience as a SQL Server DBA.That type of job overviewis something that Im going to skip as a clientevery single time. Now I dont recommend that you go finda successful freelancer in your specific job categoryand title and copy their overview. When you do something like that its very very apparent. But what I do recommend is that you take a lookat successful freelancers job overviewstake a look at how its formattedtake a look at how its constructed.Think about different ways that you can be creativeand make your own profile stand out as well.So when scrolling through all of these profileswhat happens when we get to mine?Take a look at the formatting in mine.It jumps out at the clientcompared to all these other profilesthat we just scrolled through.

The way that I orchestrated my overviewespecially the first two sentencesI quickly describe what I do.Im a top rated elite freelancer and then beyond thatyou can see where I start getting into sayingthat Ive worked with high profile clients. That is going to grab the attention of a clientand make them want to take a look at my profile.Be creative and write your job overviewsfirst one to three sentences in a wayto make yourself more attractive to clientsand cause them to take action. Also be sure to proofread and have someone elsetake a look at your job overview as wellto check it for grammatical errors. Its so critical to make surethat your job overview is error free.Over-deliver on your job overviewwith the goal to make it the absolute best on Upwork.Tip number four in how to capture client attentionwith your Upwork profileis to create an impressive portfolio. The portfolio section is becoming oneif not the very top area on my entire profile that Im focusing in the most heavily on.

So why am I focusing this heavily on the portfolio section? When I created an Upwork employer accountand I started looking for freelancersto help me scale everything that Im doingthe portfolio section was one of the very first thingsand most important things that I looked atwhen I was evaluating their profiles. So why is it so powerful and why did I look at itso heavily when evaluating freelancers? Its so powerful and I focused so heavily on itbecause it shows true examples of your work. You should add any previous examples of workthat youve done in the past for projectsput those in your portfolio sectionspecifically ones that tie into your skillsand also the types of jobs youre bidding on.Youre gonna want to display thosein your portfolio section.Trust me its gonna help you tremendouslywhen Upwork clients go to your profiletrying to find examples of work that youve completedthat relate to their overall project and job duties. For example, lets take a look at my portfolio section. So Im gonna go ahead and scroll down to it right now.Taking a look at my portfolio sectionin the first entry we can see that I have displayed where I was selected about Upworkto be in their marketing campaignto be featured as a top freelancer in the IT and networking category.

So this was something that I really wanted to addto my portfolio section to make sure that I had featured so that when clients go to my profile they see this.Next we can see I have an entry for my YouTube channel. So this goes and describes all the trainings all the types of videos that I upload to my YouTube channel so its good to have this here.Ill often get compliments by my clientsand by potential clients. They say they went to my YouTube channeland they really liked my contentso this is something that I really want to add here and its paid dividendsby having it in my portfolio section.Next we can see that I have my website listed. This basically goes into the content that Im doingalso has all the consulting services that I offer. So thats something I wanted to add here.I designed the website myself.

It is something that I add here my clients can go see it as well.In the next entries I started diving into my skillsthe first one being SQL Server DBA.So this one basically goes throughand describes all the different versions of SQL Server that I work with. Now if we click over and go to the next tabso Im gonna tab to my portfolio. These are specific issues that Ive resolved. The first ones database corruption. This was actually a very good project that I worked on.So one of my clientsbasically their entire database was down. They had a lot of corruption. It was preventing any type of workto be done in the database. It was completely down.I was able to get it up and running in less than 24 hourswith no data loss and it was big.It was a really good project.I was proud of the way it went.So I basically just reached out to my clientand asked them if they cared if I would feature themin my portfolio section. They were definitely all for itso I added them here.

They let me add their logo as well.So thats something you can do reach out to your clienttell them that you want to feature themin your portfolio section.I guarantee you they wont have any issues with it.Ive never had a problem with any of my clientsIve reached out to to ask themif I could feature their reviewsto be able to list in my profile or on my website.Theyre always down to do it.Then next a SQL Server replication. Its a high availability option for SQL Server. Its a project that Ive worked on a lotspecifically on Upwork as wellso I wanted to add it here also.If you dont have a project that youve completed recentlyor in the past that you want to add your portfolio sectiondont worry about that.Think about something you can add.Think about a past project youve done maybe for yourselfmaybe in college maybe for a different clientoutside of Upwork.Think about some type of project that you can addto your portfolio sectionthats going to display your skillsand ultimately to give the Upwork clientthe confidence they need in youthat you can deliver on their projectand you can complete it successfully.

Tip number five in how to create an attractive profileand honestly this is the best oneand the most important one to me client reviews. How important are client reviews on Upwork? When an Upwork client is considering you for their joband they review your Upwork profileyour client reviews are gonna matter substantiallyand theyre gonna be one of the first thingslooked at as well.Trust me it matters what Upwork clientsare saying about you.It really matters.Clients want to know that you can deliver high quality workand that you will also be a good investment for them.Theyre investing company money in youso its vital that you can deliverand complete their project. The absolute best way on Upwork to showcase your abilitiesto showcase that you can complete projects successfullyand your overall skills is client reviews.Take a look at some of these reviews from my profile. So how do you get great reviews like these? The answer you over-deliver.You make it a point to exceedyour clients expectations of you.

Think about things that you can doto go above and beyondanything theyve experienced with other freelancers. Now some examples of that can be in your communication.Always keeping them up-to-date communicating effectively. They will love that that youre keeping them up-to-dateyoure not leaving them in the dark.Thats one great example.Another one over-deliver without the expectationof additional payment. Now if youre hourly youre gonna get that regardlessbut try to think about something you can doto go above and beyondwithout expecting something in return from them.If youre willing to over-deliverif youre willing to go above and beyondif youre willing to give morethan what you expect to receive trust me in the long termyoure gonna receive way more than other freelancersand youre gonna be way ahead of most freelancers on Upwork.A lot of that has to do with reputation.Clients are gonna say great things about you.Its gonna be featured in your profile. Its gonna lead to more work. Its gonna lead to more money. You got to think about it that way.I see way too many freelancers and just people in generallooking for that quick and easy.Theyre looking for the quick way to make moneybut guess what things that come quick and easyare often gonna leave the exact same way.So when you go to Amazon you started looking for a productdo you take a look at the reviews?Of course you do.

Everyone does you start looking at the reviewsseeing what people are actually saying about the productseeing if its something thats worth buying. Now think about your Upwork profile in the exact same way.An Upwork client goes to your profilethey start going through your reviews.Theyre trying to figure out if youre a good productif youre worth the investment and their money.Thats why I personally believe that Upwork client reviewsare by far the most important thing on your profileand you need to make sure youre getting good reviews. When the client reviews your profiletheyre looking for reasons why they should hire youwhy they should hire you over all the other freelancersthat bid on their projectand its up to you to give them the reasons why they should.Your profile needs to convey that.It needs to convey why you are the best optionwhy they should hire you over everyone elsethat bids on their project. Its up to you to give them the reasonsto showcase it on your profile and lead them ultimately to making the decision to invest in youand to hire you as their freelancer. So focus on the tips Im giving you.Dont just skim through them implement a coupleleave a bunch off and expect to start getting jobsand having an attractive profile.Go through all of em.Make sure youre implementing them.Make sure that youre putting the effort inthats gonna lead to your profile being attractive and ultimately standing out to clients to make them want to hire you.

If you're a new freelancer and you dont have any jobs yettheres a lot of you that watch my videos.Don't get discouraged when you try to get a jobfor about a week a couple weeks a monthand you don't get one.Don't get discouraged.Don't give up it takes time.Anything in life worth anything takes time and takes immense effort to get there. Also please be sure to keep leaving commentswith your success stories.I love hearing about those.I feature them in my videosand I like getting that out into the communityso were able to see what my tips are doinghow theyre helping freelancers.Take a look at the one from this week. This freelancer implemented my tips. They were able to get their first job on Upworkand then after that they were able to get a jobwith a fixed price budget of $2000 by watching my tips.Freelancing is hard and theres absolutely no denying that.Being a successful freelancer takes a lot of effort from you.But think about the long term think about in the futurewhere you want to see your life where you want to be at.Whatever that is go for it.Put the work in thats gonna get you to that level.Dont look for the quick thingthat you think is gonna change your lifeand make you a lot of money fast.Focus on the long termfocus on where you want your profile to look in the futureto get you the clients that you wantto get you the income that you wantand lead you wherever you want to go.Focus on that.
